I applied for a Data Entry position for United Window and Door through remotejobs.io and was contacted via email the same day requesting a phone interview. I was offered the job the next day with great pay, hours and benefits. I was sent tax paperwork and $1800 in the form of a check to purchase materials, including an iPhone, to work remotely. Once I had the money in my bank account I was instructed to add the funds to Cash app and then to purchase Bitcoin. At this point I knew I had been conned and confronted the scammer who threatened that I would not like the consequences of reporting them to the authorities. They accused me of stealing company funds. The name used was Scott Perrone and they were communicating via Microsoft Teams. They received my social and addressed due to the completed tax forms.
