The scammer sent me an email representing the Best Buy Geek Squad. See below. I called the number and told them to cancel the charges referred to in the email and they said that they had to access my network through my computer to remove the software they claim they are charging me for. I said that I would not let them download anything and that I could just dispute the charges on my credit card and block them and that would take care of it. They should just be able to credit me if they are able to charge me. They do not need to access anything on my computer for that. He insisted the they only way for me to no longer be charged or get a credit for what has already been charged was to access my internet. He kept saying that he was just doing his job and asking me "do I want the charges to stop or not? I said of course but this is not how it does not make sense that this is how it need to be done. I googled the software and read to him how it is being used for scamming people to get access to their computer data and bank accounts. He says that he was not doing that but if you look at the email, you can see all the clues. The email came from a gmail account, not a business, the address is 123 Main street with no city and in the past when I have gotten this email (I have gotten a few from the "Geek Squad") I call and it does not connect to anything. This time I actually got a person. I believe this is a scam. He told me that calling my credit card company would not do any good. He could not tell me how it was getting billed so that is another sign. He asked for the receipt number from the email, I gave it to him. If you have a receipt number and you can see a charge, you can see where it was charged to. So he should be able to just credit me but he insisted that he could not. I can see how people less computer savvy than I am falling for this. Please warn others! Thank you! This was the email I was sent.........
