I received a call from fifth third's customer service phone number 800-972-3030. They identified themselves as a bank representative from the fraud department. They asked me if I made a purchase to Best Buy in Miami FL for approx. $200. I told them no and they said this is a fraudulent charge then. They asked me for identifying information such as my name, SSN and pin to identify myself so they can discuss my account fraud. They asked me if I saw any other fraudulent charges on my checking account. They asked me if I received a text from USPS recently (which I did a week prior)about an undelivered package. They said this is probably how the scammers got my account info. The representative asked me if I use Apple Pay and they said the fraudulent charge was made though Apple pay on an Iphone 8. They told me I need to take my debit card off of Apple Pay and they would put me on hold to contact Apple. They then told me they have a bad connection and will have to call back from a land line but it will show up as a private number. They told me they would be texting me a fraud alert to make sure I am receiving them and to reply Y. They text me a fraud alert and I replied Y. After I replied I went back and read the alert and it read FreeMsg: 5/3 Fraud Dept 866-442-0251: Did you try a charge of $4847.18 at APPLE CASH BALAN on card ####? Reply YES or NO. This came from number 3748. I then became very suspicious and hung up and called my bank at that time.
