Identical to the scam reported on this site which came up when searching for Juan Mejinez. These bastards dont even bother changing the email they use - it's word for word from the similar report out of Boston (my incident occurred in Birmingham, AL). The original email was supposedly from a faculty or staff member on behalf of another university employee who was downsizing after her husband's death; the initial email appeared to be forwarded through the university mail system and a student there forwarded it to me. The initial email includes the email address for the individual giving away the piano, and I contacted this "old lady" about her nearly new Yamaha baby grand. She then directed me to contact this "Brireed Mover Services" outfit which I did. I got a barely literate response from some "Juan Mejinez" who seemed very pushy about what type of payment I would be using. That was actually my first red flag that there was something fishy going on. Then there was the bogus website with no real info, no working links, a San Francisco address and "123-456-7890" for a contact phone number. Then, when pressed for references Juan became very evasive. So far he has only sent 4 photos of a couple of guys moving different pianos around. Google Lens will likely show those up as fakes. Going to play around with that right now.
