Description
dinnerwarehomewares.com pretends to be a Maxwell&Williams distributor of fine china from Australia, and pretends to be located both in New York and in Montgomery Alabama. I found the site while looking for a Maxwell&Williams mug. The mugs "for sale" were half off - of a type that has been discontinued by the real manufacturer. I "purchased" 6 mugs with my credit card. When I received the confirmation email of my order, it was very suspicious that it told me to email any future correspondence to "[email protected]" and then their "Contact Us" address (111 Vredenburgh Ave Phoenix NY US 10704)on the website is actually the address and zip code for a Stop&Shop in Yonkers, NY though the domain was registered from China. My bank looked at the transaction and said it appeared to be from a "software retailer" in yet a third country, recommended cancelling the card, but said I had to wait to dispute the charge. The mugs never arrived but using the same tracking number they gave me in my confirmation email, a flimsy necklace arrived from China. Maxwell&Williams in Australia says they have no distributors in America, certainly not one located at a Stop&Shop in Yonkers, NY.
