Description

I wanted to purchase an authentic NHL jersey as a present for my son. As part of my internet search, I found the website: www.fanaticsofficial.com, which is set up almost identical to, and presents itself almost exactly like, the legitimate and well known on-line business Fanatics.com. Fanaticsofficial.com advertised the jersey I wanted as “authentic” on their website, supported by photos of the product which clearly show an Adidas label, the company that is the licensed authentic manufacturer for the team, in an attempt to support their claim that the jerseys they are selling are authentic. When the jersey was not shipped in a timely manner, I started to investigate and realized that the website I used was not the legitimate Fanatics.com website I had originally intended to use. I then reached out to the vendor from whom I had purchased the jersey, and was told that the jersey was in production and could not be cancelled. When I insisted that the purchased be cancelled, I was told “we have paied much on the order materials cost and high labor cost ,if you ask to cancel,we will have a big loss”. These statements about the jersey being in production were in direct contradiction to the website which listed the jersey I wanted as being “in stock”. This just added to my suspicion that the website I unfortunately purchased from was not a licensed retailer for authentic Adidas NHL jerseys, but instead creating and selling knock-off items and then passing them off as authentic. In addition, the website clearly states that they have a cancellation and return policy, which they choose not to honor, instead attempting to pressure and guilt me into accepting various fees to cancel the order.
