This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
An ad appeared on Instagram for year-end clearance sales of Hoka shoes. The ad redirected to a legitimate-looking website with Hoka shoes of all varieties listed for 50-75% discounts. The website appears normal at first glance, but there are misspellings ("ours" instead of "hours"), and all of the social media links at the bottom redirect directly to those sites (facebook.com, not Hoka's Facebook page, for example). If someone places an order for a pair of shoes, they are given a confirmation number and told that they will receive a confirmation email soon. That email never arrives, and the charge listed on the bank statement is not from Hoka, but rather from angelaperezz.com.
