Description

A person posted a vague job description to a Facebook group chat, asking if anyone wanted to work for a travel agency and earn 150-300 dollars a day. After I reached out to them, they asked for my name and my number and told me an HR person will contact me on WhatsApp. They introduced themselves as TTI Travel company - I was able to find their website, reviews, and job postings - this could be a real company and they just created a fake website for them changing from .com to .net. There was no interview or CV required. The job required me to write reviews and give 5 star ratings to hotels and other travel agencies to optimize their data for a commission. It consisted of 30 review tasks every day. I completed the training from which I actually earned a little bit of money, and I was also added to a WhatsApp group chat where people were sharing their “success stories” I.e. screenshots of what they have earned. I also had a person reach out to me pretending to be a beginner like me and I told her that I felt someone thing was off about this job but she reassured me and said that she checked their legitimacy and that I can trust them. On the 2nd day working there, my account balance went negative - my instructor told me that it was because I acquired a special journey and I will have to recharge my account using cryptocurrency but will then get that money back + 5x the commission on top of it. My instructor told me step by step instructions on how to create a crypto wallet and how to transfer their money, she assured me that I will not get any more special journeys but they kept coming, each one being more expensive than the other. At one point they wanted me to recharge $7000 dollars, this is where all the red flags and the bells started ringing. I stopped communicating with them immediately and looked online for any clues if it was a scam or not - found a couple other people telling the same story but with different companies.
