I received a text message saying, "Hi! I am Mrs. Savannah Sanders from Novocure Inc. I am reaching out in response to the approval of your resume on Indeed. We are interested in considering you for our available remote positions: -Customer Service Representative -Data Entry Clerk -Administrative Assistant These positions offer a competitive rate of $32.00 per hour. Would you be available for an interview at your earliest convenience?" I responded yes and received anothe message saying, "Okay! To proceed with your interview, please sign in to your Zoom app -Click the Contacts tab. -Click the add icon and select Invite a Zoom contact. -Enter the email address of the contact you want to add ([email protected]) -Click Invite and send a message. -Verification Code (TQSR273) Let me know once you¿are¿connected.". The interview was done on Microsoft Teams while i simultaneously researched the company. The company is supposed to be located in Switzerland with locations in the US, Ireland, and a couple more countries. Their LinkedIn checked out along with their website. I was surprised to be doing a full interview on Microsoft Teams without any visual screen time. I got the job and the next day they sent over a contract and W2 to fill out. Ashley (HR Specialist) then said they were sending a check that I needed to deposit in order to purchase my equipment and software needed. I was unable to deposit the check for $2,450 because I just opened one account and the other has a deposit limit. I telayed this to Ashley and she told me she need to contact accounting department to see what could be done. I asked her if a physical check could be sent to my home and she responded with, "Unfortunately, that is not possible right now as the accounting department is still working on that process. However, it is of utmost importance that your working materials are processed today and shipped to your mailing address as scheduled so that you can begin to work properly with the necessary working materials to enhance productivity. Optionally, you can make a down payment from your pocket of $500 to the company certified vendor and be reimbursed on your first paycheck along with your sign-up bonus fee. Can you sort that out right now?". I never answered her but I did ask her why wouldnt the company just send the equipment to my home. Ashley responded with, "Yes! Owing to previous mishandling and lack of equipment accountability, the company recently implemented this approach to promote employee transparency and responsibility. The company now follows a decentralized procurement process, where individual remote employees are entrusted with purchasing the necessary equipment for their roles, rather than relying on a centralized procurement team.". I tried calling her twice because to me it was become very suspicious. She then said, "Hello, (my name)! I am unable to take calls at the moment as I have various commitments.". I then asked to speak to a person over the phone and she never responded again.
