Description
Someone from Facebook messaged me, offering a job; her name is Carol Lewis. She told me about a work-from-home job. Since I joined some Facebook groups related to WFH, I asked her where she found me, so yes, it is on FB. She asked me to email my resume to Devon Layton ([email protected]). I checked their website did some research, and it initially seemed legit. I got an interview, and they told me I got the job. They asked me to wait for an email from Kelvin Carlton ([email protected]), the Program Manager who will oversee my onboarding. He asked me to install Microsoft Teams (https://teams.microsoft.com/downloads), our primary communication mode. So I signed the job offer contract and even sent him my IDs. On August 21, I got a check from him amounting to $3,800 (for purchasing the equipment, signing bonus, and advance training pay). He said I needed to deposit the check into my bank account. Once deposited, the money will be used to purchase the necessary equipment since I work from home. But when I received the check, it was very suspicious! The check name was under a museum, not under the company's name. Even the address doesn't seem right. The check bounced. They were not able to get any money from me, but unfortunately, they were able to get my identity IDs.
