Description
I went online to check and see if my vehicle had any recalls on it. When I asked Google it came up with an image from Carmax and below it was safercar.gov that showed the specifics of any recalls. So, I went to safercar.gov and was redirected to the vinhistoryusa.com site. The site says that it will charge you $1 to get a report on your car's VIN number. There is an *option to pay a membership every 2 weeks of $29.95. However, when you are putting in your card info & checking out, it says it's $1. But they charged (and caused my account to be overdrawn) $1 and also $29.95. When I emailed them to ask why I was charged the $29.95, they said that the web page did state that. And when I asked for a refund of the $29.95 they refused but said that they cancelled any other future "membership" charges. I told them that was a scam and is very misleading. Obviously, I wouldn't have willingly given my card info thinking I would be charged $29.95 instead of the $1 that it says just for a report regarding recalls. Which is all I thought I was requesting. And to be denied a refund is completely ridiculous and unreasonable.
