Through a Facebook Group called "feathers rehoming and adoption!" the admin recommended purchasing a bird through JJR I talked to him on messenger and agreed to send him $300 for a green cheek conure to be delivered on 5/11/2023 from his location in Pennsylvania. I sent him $300 via Apple Pay on 5/10/23 and he asked for my email, address, and phone number which I sent. He sent me tracking information via www.evergreenmailingservice.com on 5/11/23 and it stated the bird would be delivered by 3:00PM. It also noted that his name was BG on the tracking information. Then I got several emails from the shipping company stating I needed to pay $280.33 insurance to have the bird delivered and the amount was to be sent to the breeder. I sent him $200 stating I did not have the rest and he said that was fine and the insurance is fully refundable. After the tracking updated to from Pittsburg to Buffalo, I got another email that another fee of $230 was required. I stated I did not have it to the shipping company and they replied if I didn't pay it, I would be charged overtime. I talked to the breeder, "J" or B, and he asked what I was going to do to ensure my bird got there and I said nothing because I don't have any more money and that if the bird didn't arrive as agreed upon I would report him. After some digging, it looks like the shipping company is not legitimate and I found J's name in a group reporting bird scammers on Facebook. I decided to block him and report right away.
