This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
On 3/22/2023 I got a pop-up on my computer scree that said my computer had been infected by a Trojan. It included a phone number for Microsoft Support of 888-626-1842. When I called the number I gave access to my computer to the tech at Elitex IP Security. He showed me all the viruses and errors and had me call Novatech at 321-214-6321. Novatech then removed the viruses and made changes to the computer. They had me scan my check for payment. The check was made out to Novatech for $444. They sent me 3 pages of do's and don'ts and a password and security question for when I have problems. I wasn't sure if it was a scam so I called my bank on 3/23/2023 and they put a hold on the payment. Elitex IP is supposed to contact me today between 12 and 1:00 to see how the computer is doing. They tell me I have signed up for a year of security and tech support. That was included in the $444 charge.
