Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

Was offered a remote job interview while I had been applying for others and assumed it was something I applied to. Seemed somewhat legitimate, they pulled the vice presidents name of the company for their email, but in their “offer” they mention that for my training they will send a “check” for me to buy company goods with. Huge red flag. I did research and stopped responding and noticed some details. 1. Email is [email protected] and when referencing the business they use the STERLING CONSTRUCTION CO. On that businesses site, their groups name is Sterling Infrastructure Inc. 2. They asked for who I banked with in their “interview” questions, “so they could know what payroll group to put me under.” Stupidly, I fell for this one and supplied it with a link to the site. That is the only bank related info I lost thank goodness. 3. In their final email to me that ticked me off, they state they will send a “company check” to me to show I can “buy goods” under the company name when that has nothing to do with the position offered.
