Description

I entered a drawing at a local mall, and I received a text message stating I won a FREE 5-day 4 night Bahamas vacation for two. They have you call in and listen to a prerecording about the details of the trip. After the recording, you are immediately asked to pay an account setup fee of $39.98. Then an additional $79/per person cruise admission fee to the resort, and another $79/ per person cruise admission fee back. I have done my research, and the website had a score of 58 trustworthy score (average). The owner of Ashfordvacations is not listed, and the online/travelers reviews are not listed. There is too much suspiciousness happening, and they give you 4 days to accept the offer. I paid the initial setup fee, and after some thought and more research, I decided it seemed too good to be true. I called in and asked for a refund. The representative asked my reason, and I was honest about my thoughts. He argued with me about the legitimacy of the company. I gave him the same exact reasons mentioned above as to why I did not trust it, and he continued to argue with me rather than reassuring it was a legitimate offer. I did not get the refund back, which was expected, but I hope this report helps others if they encounter the same situation. If there was more information and reviews directly on the website, it would help with the concerns of a scam. I had to do in-depth research and was not satisfied with what I was finding. I could not find one review of someone who ACTUALLY went on the trip. Furthermore, there are other "companies" offering the same deal.
