Description

Company: Papaya Gaming / Solitaire Cash Complaint: I am filing this complaint against Papaya Gaming, the developer of the mobile app Solitaire Cash, for deceptive app design that misled me into making an unintended payment. The app was brought to my attention by my 12-year-old son, who shared it with me as a way to earn money by playing games for free. I began playing and accumulated $1.14 in earnings. Having established a pattern of earning within the app, I was then presented with an urgency-driven prompt displaying "$10 deposit" language. The presentation was entirely consistent with receiving a payout of my earnings — not making a purchase. I clicked what I believed was an option to receive $10. Instead, $10 was withdrawn from my PayPal account. I immediately contacted Solitaire Cash support. Their response was to repeatedly state that they "would never take money without authorization" — but they never once addressed the misleading language that caused the transaction. They did not acknowledge that the presentation could reasonably be interpreted as a deposit offer rather than a charge. This response was evasive and did not address the root cause of the problem. There is also an unresolved contradiction that I am asking the BBB to note: Solitaire Cash support confirmed that they do not offer subscriptions. However, PayPal processed and classified this exact transaction as a subscription payment. Neither company has explained this discrepancy. I ultimately recovered my $10 only through my own persistent outreach to the merchant. I want to be clear about why I am bringing this complaint to the BBB. I recovered my money. But the deceptive design that caused this transaction has not been acknowledged or corrected by Solitaire Cash. My son found this app because it is marketed to young people as a free way to earn real money. The urgency-driven, reward-framed design of this charge prompt is engineered to cause exactly the kind of mistake I made — and it will continue to affect other consumers, including minors, unless it is addressed. The fact that the transaction is flagged as a subscription implies that it may be a repeated charge. - i mean how many people are possibly frauded? I am requesting that the BBB: — Require Solitaire Cash to formally respond to the specific issue of the misleading "$10 deposit" language — Note the contradiction between Solitaire Cash's claim that they offer no subscriptions and PayPal's classification of this charge as a subscription payment — Ensure this complaint is visible to other consumers considering using this app Sincerely, ******* ********
