Ordering from “BatteryGC” (domain: batterygc.com) caused the unauthorized use and resale of my personal consumer data, resulting in a sudden surge of spam emails and spam telephone calls. The transaction was processed using PayPal. I did not provide my telephone number directly to the merchant during checkout. The merchant failed to ship the purchased item and PayPal subsequently refunded the transaction due to non-fulfillment. Within 24 hours of this transaction, I began receiving highly targeted spam emails and automated telephone calls. These communications referenced my household and appeared to be insurance or quote solicitation calls. Notably, spam calls began arriving on my residential landline, a number that is not publicly shared and is used only for family and essential services. Prior to this transaction, I had not experienced spam emails or spam calls of this nature or frequency on either my email address or my landline number. Based on the timing and specificity of the solicitations, I believe my personal data (including name, address, email address, and household phone number) was improperly shared or sold for lead generation purposes following this transaction. I am also requesting that the FCC review this matter for potential violations related to unauthorized lead resale, robocalling and misuse of consumer data.
