A fake LinkedIn account reached out to my advisee (I am a career advisor), they scheduled a call for a potential job opportunity. They included the following information in a summary email to my advisee - Boardsi offers an exclusive and personalized membership that grants you access to the largest curated collection of compensated board and advisory openings available anywhere. As a Boardsi Executive Member, you will have access to a wide range of opportunities to expand your network and contribute to influential boards. Membership Details: Monthly fee: $195 (Members can opt-out or pause anytime with 3 days notice prior to the next billing date) One-time setup fee: $200 (includes our branding team setting up your advisor profile and applications for you) Board Compensation Averages: Start-Up Advisory Positions: $20K+ Annually and/or a variable equity position Small to Mid-Cap Advisory Positions: $10K-$60K annually and/or a variable equity position Formal Board Seats: $25K-$100K+ (higher when Public companies) Matches are created through three methods: Click to apply through the platform. We proactively reach out to companies, incubators, accelerators, P/E and Venture Capital firms. Companies can directly contact you upon viewing your profile. -- As the career advisor I contacted their main line to inquire for legitimacy and a better understanding of what they were offering my advisee - they got frustrated and told me they wouldn't discuss any information with me. Upon further research online and speaking I learned that it is a SCAM that people know about but don't know how to stop. I wanted to report it here.
