I am filing a complaint against LapCatz for deceptive and misleading business practices. I purchased an “interactive” cat toy that was advertised as featuring birds that “fly,” provide “hours of independent play,” and was presented as a premium product supported by thousands of positive customer reviews. The product I received does not function as advertised the birds do not fly as depicted and the toy does not provide the promised independent play experience. After purchase, I discovered the identical product is sold by major retailers (including Chewy) for less than one-third of the price, which strongly suggests the product was misrepresented in both quality and value. The website’s reviews are misleading and fabricated as there are pages and pages of repetitive reviews left by the same name which also conflict sharply with numerous 1-star reviews on independent platforms such as Trustpilot, where customers report the same issues: misleading advertising, poor product performance, delayed shipping from China, and extremely difficult return processes. The product page advertises a “99-day risk-free refund,” fast shipping, and claims of U.S. warehouses. However, customer support confirmed that the company does not have a U.S. warehouse and that returns must be shipped to China at the customer’s expense which is a major condition that was not clearly disclosed at the time of purchase. This makes the promised refund effectively impossible and misleading. I attempted to resolve the matter directly with the merchant, but the only option provided requires costly international shipping, which places an unreasonable burden on the customer and prevents a fair refund. I am requesting a full refund due to misrepresentation of the product and deceptive business practices.
