Description
My boyfriend paid the deposit for a kitten named Wizzy in the amount of $850, including a supposed "cargo fee" of $600 to send the cat in the cargo option. After paying, they claimed that we needed to pay $1,200 extra for an in-flight nanny instead due to "weather conditions" despite not having scheduled a flight yet. To pay for the in-flight nanny, they asked my boyfriend to Zelle money to a stranger who is apparently a third party person they work with? The person they wanted him to send $600 to was Katiana Jean-Philippe with the Zelle phone number 401-340-8004 and $600 in cash when receiving the cat. This was extremely concerning due to the fact that on their website itself they claim that to prevent scams they would never ask customers to send money via Zelle or Paypal, only accepting electronic payments. The website, emails, texts, and calls he got all had different phone numbers to call or text for "different departments". Another concern I noted was that people who had purchased from them spoke out on Instagram and Reddit, claiming that they received the wrong cat, a cat with severe health issues, or an incorrect breed/sex of cat. This is obviously a major problem in itself, but it certainly doesn't help that all those complaints also came with the fact that the customers could not get a hold of Purebred Kitties afterward. One person's cat allegedly died in only a year due to severe illness, and Purebred Kitties did not respond to their messages. They apparently made a new account pretending to buy a kitten to see if they would respond, and they did in 5 minutes. I spoke with the person who answered the phone on 877-277-3707, and he did not understand most of my questions I was asking. I explained my reasons for cancelation and he tried to dodge many of my difficult questions when I confronted them about attempting to have my boyfriend pay in unprotected means for an extra "surprise" charge. Also, the scammer was very confusing about how much we owed, saying $1,500 over the phone and $1,200 via text.
