High school students claiming to be selling a donate-for-trial orange county register subscription. The high school student lied claiming no automatic billing was opted for. Thankfully, I randomly had to change debt cards right as this scam took place so the payment doesn't go through. Upon Orange County Register calling me from (562)221 7522 on 12/17/25 claiming "your payment didn't go through," I informed them of the issue. I was given the round around for the customer service line and was given (714) 581 9492. The representative apologized for the mistake and told me she deleted my number from their records and cancelled everything. On 01/09/2026 I received a call from (714) 581-9492 from the same voice as the original scam call from the 562 number saying the exact same thing as the first 12/17/2026 call. Once I realized the scammers were calling again, I immediately hung up the phone.
