Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

During the holidays, my son found a pair of sneakers on this website which appears to be legitimate. I ordered them and paid via my credit card. I then received an email from this company indicating they were out of stock and would charge me 10% as a restocking fee. I told them to cancel my order and refund all but the 10%. They acknowledged this and indicated it could take up to 5 business days and to let them know if I did not receive it once the time has lapsed. I emailed them back and have received no correspondence. I work in IT and noticed some misspellings in some of the emails which generally are tell tell signs of hackers. My credit card also received charges from all over the US the week following. I don't hold out much hope of recovering my money but wanted to try to stop others from similar losses.
