Description

The website looks like it’s a generations-long family-owned US company operating in Nashville, TN and using UPS to ship. It turns out it’s a Chinese company and their entire website and story is likely fraudulent, including not shipping via UPS or being based in Nashvillle. I was pulled in through an Instagram ad, and should have done more research. I ordered a sweater and received one but not what I ordered. The company says the lighting is probably off and since a sweater was delivered, I have to pay shipping and customs back to China if I want a full refund, which will cost a lot. The yarn pattern, colors, and material are all markedly different than advertised. The quality is far less than advertised due to the differences in yarn color, material, pattern and manufacturing techniques (what I received is clearly pieced together with lines clearly visible where pieces were stitched). While it is a sweater with similar characteristics, it’s not what I ordered by any reasonable observation. I’ve emailed their customer service and get the same answer—they won’t refund the full cost without me paying for shipping. This is the address and phone number they said to send it to: Contact person: Wang Maoqin Lane 1177, Jianlan Road, Meixu Street, Yinzhou District Ningbo 315100 – Zhejiang, China Tel: +86 15********* I now realize it’s a scam company, most likely stealing other company’s patterns and making & selling cheap, poor imitations with little to no recourse for the consumer. I worry that children or very poorly paid people are in a Chinese sweatshop that I just unknowingly supported. I’ve attached a picture of what I was sent. This is the link to what I ordered in dark grey: https://oliviawestwood-boutique.com/products/emelina-sophisticated-sweater?variant=52*********503. What I received isn’t close to what’s advertised. I will never get sucked in by another Instagram/social media ad again—Instagram should also protect its users from predatory sellers. Bad on them. I hope this saves someone else from a bad, frustrating experience.
