Description

Same as previous victim. Person shows up at the front door claiming to be a garage door repairman then proceeds to attempt to charge an outrageous amount (about $1500) for a job that’s worth $200-400. I agreed to the job at $300 plus insurance. The “repairman” proceeds to work on the garage door for about 2 hours. Then shows me the garage door opening but it failed at closing so ge asks for a few more minutes to readjust his work. 10-20 mins after calls me out to the garage again to demo his work. Again, it was ok going but on its way down I noticed something was off but he brushed it off said it was due to snow accumulation or debris which he said would clear up after a few cycles. I helped him w his ladder and tools to his truck and noticed him rushing to get out of our area up to a point of peeling off as he was backing up and driving away. Low and behold when I close the garage door, the door wouldn’t close I did it and did it again and it failed. I proceeded to call the repairman back. Try to get him to come back right away and finish the job, but he said he was too late and he could no longer do it, then proceeded to do more damage by Trying to give me instructions to something that I was not familiar with, but anyways, he gave specific instructions on what to do. I was adamant to follow the instructions as I said it was not safe. He insisted he told me to find a latch and push the latch. I said latch Cannot be pushed. I can pull it only thing I can do with the latches pull it he said yeah OK pull it. I said no if I pull this the garage door will fall freely with no motor. He said no it won’t told me to trust him as he is the professional not me so I said OK because I wanted my garage door closed mind you it’s dead winter here in Minnesota. It’s January as soon as I pull the latch, my doubts were correct. The garage door came crashing and stopped at about a foot before impact and got stuck right there now I’m stuck with a broken garage that won’t even close and have cold air going into my house through my frozen garage. This is totally unacceptable. These type of scam jobs should be stopped. I have paid for the service plus even tipped The guy $40 for what I thought was a job well done, yet here I am three days later still waiting on them to even come back. Nothing has happened yet last time I talked to their customer service number they said they were gonna fix it and they were gonna send it to the supervisor, but nothing has been done yet as of this time.
