On November 14 a family member forward me a message someone left on her phone threatening to serve me with papers. They did not say who they were only to call a toll free number. I called the number and a woman answered the phone saying “corporate” then transferred me to Rudy Gama. He said he was a “mediator” for their client who was suing me for a past balance of $2000 and they would settle for $841. He was talking so fast and kept threatening legal action for “Meta Bank”. Under duress of threatening a lawsuit which I can't afford in this economy, I paid a partial payment of $27.17 to keep the lawsuit from going forward. After I got off the call which he said was recorded and calmed my nerves down I started digging through my credit report and there is no reference of a Meta Bank nor did I receive any paperwork from this “mediator”. Nothing was mailed to my physical address either. I locked down my credit reports and CheckSystems because I believe this was a scam. I also checked the BBB and Wilkinsonn Legal Group has complaints against them for the same threatening high pressure tactics and taking people money. I also searched for their license information and if they are legit via the NMLS database and there is nothing about them listed which is also another red flag. They also have no website and when you search for them on the internet nothing reputable comes up. I’m afraid this is a scam and I don’t want me or my family members to get conned by these terrible people. I also don’t want anyone else to fall for this and be emotionally threatened by something false.
