This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
I asked for information about a rental property on Redfin.com. The email I received was from Locayt: "At Locayt we value your time and have a pre-screening process to ensure efficient scheduling. To avoid no-shows and time wastage, we kindly request serious applicants to complete a pre-screen application. Should you advance as a rental candidate, your initial fee will be credited toward the rental credit report fee. www.Locayt.com/apply". The Locayt "website" doesn't give any information about the property, it just requests a $49 fee to apply.
