This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
On the morning of Dec 18, 2025, I received a text Harris&Harris. They claimed to be a debt collector for the PA Turnpike. I hadn't received any bills from the turnpike regarding owed tolls, so I researched the company. It seemed as though it was a legitimate business until I checked the contact info. I saw that the phone number on the REAL Harris & Harris website was different than the one I had in my text message. I then researched the phone number in the text that I received and the results showed that this number is connected with a scammer posing as a real debt collection agency.
