I applied for a job on through ***. The account handler for *** is **** ** *******. ****** ****** conducted an interview to get to know me for the *** Staffing agency. Shawn was the Rep for the Express Merchants LLC job; whom I accuse of Fraud. Maiyah contacted me via email for a Customer Service Job for a car parts dealer. They got me in contact with Shawn. Shawn Called me on Dec 1 and went through my resume via phone. The conversation was 10min. He said he like my resume and wanted to proceed with me. He said I would have a job the following week on Monday December 8. I would meet the team via virtual. Shawn had a southeast Asian accent so it sounded odd his name was Shawn. I would get two weeks of training via online and also step into the office work for work after two weeks at an office called VIZENS CORP in Fairfax, Va. 11350 Random Hills Rd Suite 800, Fairfax, VA 22030. I filled out a Background form for Express Merchants LLC and sent it to him asap. The BG form was odd as it did not have an option for Latino. I am Latino. I was too excited about having a job again that I ignored the red flags. Maiyah stayed in contact with me to keep up to date. On December 5, Shawn contacted me again at noon and tried to offer me a job as a franchisee for his autoparts dealer. He was giving me more details as it was going to be more than 39 dollars an hour plus commissions. He tried to settle that agreement via phone. I asked if he could send details via email but refused. He was adamant it was a "now or never" deal. I declined as I just wanted the customer service position. He sounded bothered after I declined and we hung up. John O Connell sent me more info about the job description since he was handling the account. I could a screenshot. Monday rolled around and went through emails and nothing new. I contacted Maiyah and she looked into it. She got nothing either. The virtual meeting was set for 11am and I haven't heard from Shawn either. **** ********* personally called me at 11am and introduced himself as the account handler for the job. He asked me if I did send any information or a BG check to Express Merchants. I said no but forgot that I did send Shawn my SSN, Email, DOB, and My address. John was looking into the account as well and he would get back to me if he got any word from Shawn or Express Merchants for a link. So I was frustreated with the process that maybe this was fake. Later in the day Maiyah calls me and kept me updated that there's no new info about Shawn or the job. Seems Shawn is not answering Maiyah or John. Maiyah finally asked me if I sent Shawn any info. I was luckily sitting in my computer and looked through my emails. I said yes. Everything. All my personal details about me. Maiyah immediatly told me to freeze my credit. She also mention other job applicants also got weird messages through their whatsapp. She mentioned Shawn was coming up from Tennessee and expanding in Northern Virginia and looking for applicants. I asked Maiyah how did they vet to see if he was a fraud employer? I didn't get a strait answer from Maiyah. She ended the phone call with freeze your credit and "Sorry about that." I was distraught that this is what I got. I got no solution. John gave me a called back on Tuesday saying "yeah we're closing down this account. And there's nothing else we could do. Basically, I feel I've been exposed to fraud via a staffing agency due to poor vetting and gross negligence. I want Express Merchants ([email protected]), Shawn 307-400-3655 and **** ********* investigated for negligence. Blatant negligence. All they told me was freeze your credit and a sorry for exposing me to fraud?? Are you seriious? I feel Maiyah is just a worker.
