This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
I was contacted by someone claiming to be from a company called “OC Transportation Inc” offering a Purchasing Officer position that I never applied for. I was emailed from multiple unrelated domains, including oc-trans.com and freightexport.online. The job was offered immediately with no interview, which was the first red flag. I was sent a PDF describing the job, and it matched common reshipping and purchasing-agent scams. The duties included picking up laptops, gaming consoles, cameras, and other high-value electronics from local retail stores and shipping them out. The PDF also stated that my personal credit card would be “topped up” with company funds so I could buy items, and that I had to complete eight orders before receiving any pay. These are well-known scam tactics involving stolen credit cards and stolen goods. The company website (oc-trans.com) appears fake. The phone number on the site is disconnected, and the listed address is a residential apartment, not a commercial business. The website has no verifiable business information, licensing, transportation credentials, or employee presence. The “Careers” page contains a generic job posting that matches the scam email. Everything about this situation indicates it is a fraudulent employment scam designed to recruit victims to unknowingly participate in reshipping stolen merchandise or handling stolen financial transactions.
