I went to this AT&T store on 11/30 to purchase an iphone 16. The sales associate, Mike (Michael B.), sold me the phone (to be mailed this week) and did NOT make ANY MENTION of a $35 upgrade fee. He also added Protection Advantage (that I DID NOT REQUEST) to my account. I didn't realize these charges until I got home and checked my account. He told me that my only cost was the tax that I paid that day and the cost of the phone - $7.99/per month for 36 months. I went back to the store the following day and spoke with Kim, the manager. She said "the upgrade fee is standard...and so he probably didn't even think about mentioning it. And, I cannot remove the "Protection Advantage" or it will cancel your phone order. " This is DISHONEST practice. I called 611 and the sales associate on the phone cancelled the Protection Advantage. I had to pay the $35 upgrade fee. (I am fine with paying it - it just was NOT disclosed at the time of the order.)
