My wife and I contacted the page who was advertising pug puppies for sale. They contacted us back and sent pictures of the puppy and said they lived in Denver, CO an hour and a half from us. We offered to drive up to buy the pug but they insisted that they deliver to see that the puppy was going to be in a good environment. They asked for $100 down payment and $30 in gas. We sent it to them via PayPal. They said they were on the way but stopped to get her food and a kennel which was $100 and asked us to reimburse. We said we would pay $50 and sent it. Shortly after they messaged again saying the vet would not release her without a shot that cost $110. We said we would pay it directly to the vet and asked for the name. They finally sent the name but we couldn’t find it and said it wasn’t a real vet. They sent a number which ended up being a disconnected number from Washington state. We informed them this was obviously a scam and they said we needed to contact the number on Instagram. Up to this point we had tried to call the Facebook messenger several times with no answer. We also thought we were talking with an older lady based on what she said and her PayPal image. After we threatened to report her and asked for our money back she finally called. The person on the other end was a male who sounded like they were not from the US. We have a lot more to the conversation and proof of PayPal transactions. I also reported it to Facebook twice and provided the details and Facebook determined the page was not violating anything. All I am wanting is the page shutdown so they cannot continue to scam people. It is also worth noting I reported another page Profitt’s Pugs, who are following a very similar aggressive actions. I cutoff communications after I immediately recognized almost the exact same actions as the previous. Facebook also didn’t take action. There is likely a very widespread scam ring going on on Facebook posing as puppy salers. This needs to be investigated and Facebook needs to be held accountable for refusing to take action on reported scams on their platform.
