This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
I believe I may have provided sensitive personal information to a potentially fraudulent website posing as a U.S. passport assistance service. The sites were operating under the names “PassportAssist.com” and “USPassport.org.” I completed forms on their website and submitted extensive personal data, including my Social Security number, full legal name, date of birth, home address, height, eye color, and other identifying details. After submitting my information, I became concerned that the websites were not affiliated with any official U.S. government agency and may be collecting personal data under false or misleading pretenses. I am now worried that my personal information could be misused for identity theft or other fraudulent activities.
