Description
It started with an email about a potential job offer. The email looked pretty normal and included a pdf attachment of the job brief and specifics. The first interview was conducted over teams and I was called 5 days later regarding the interview performance, asked follow up questions, and then received a job offer. They then sent a job offer, benefits package, and asked me to fill out tax forms, a direct deposit form, and provide I9 documents. When I asked follow-up questions about how documents were stored and who at the company had access, they became vague, and when I pushed for more info they became irritated. They began leaving my messages on seen and I realized it was a scam and I told them I contacted the authorities, at which point their Microsoft Teams account was disconnected. They posed as real company employees and gave legitimate looking documents with contact information, addresses, logos, and benefits packages. Don't ever give any information via email without locking the file or uploading directly into a secure portal. Ask a lot of questions and always be weary, these people are awful.
