I was reached out by an individual named Brandon Burton from SPC consulting claiming I would be a good fit for their remote Customer Service/Data Entry/Administrative position. They claim you will make $40/hour with working and $20/hour while training. I was then invited to join a TEAMS conversation with a Mr. Ronald Lawrence, the hiring manager. After speaking with Mr. Lawrence, I assumed I would undergo a formal interview process but instead we went through questions and answers via TEAMS, which should have been the indicator at that time that something wasn't correct. I was given a very legit looking job offer letter, I-9 and W2 forms, which I did fill out in the very beginning before realizing what I was getting myself into at that time. I have never worked remotely so this was all new to me. Instead of them sending me company issued equipment, I was sent a check to deposit and purchase it myself. The check of course was not legit and now the company will not return any of my messages.
