Description
My father got ahold of a fake Southwest Airlines website and phone number and spoke with a person who claimed they were from Southwest. He continued to book his flight through them and gave this person all the info needed to book the flight including PII and credit card number. They sent my father an email receipt that had incorrect English, grammatical and spelling errors, and was from a non-Southwest email address. My father forwarded it to me and it was a big red flag. I went to check the Southwest website and used the confirmation number from the scam email. It pulled up my father’s reservation. We called Southwest who then confirmed that this scammer just got onto their website, made the reservation, changed the reservation to a “credit” and then sent it to another account. My brother called the number on the scammer’s emailed receipt and they proceeded to call back from two different numbers marked as “Potential Spam”.
