I was approached after applying for a job through Indeed. Since it was through Indeed I thought it would be safe. I was looking for a remote position due to lack of available work locally. It was my first real bite on a remote application, so I wasn't sure what to expect in regards to process. I was part of a Teams interview, that had some odd questions, including what bank I used, the best shipping method in my area, and whether or not I had a credit card. None of which applied to the job at hand. The following day I was offered the job and sent what appeared to be basic forms for onboarding. Hadn't onboarded in a while so I was a little rusty. I'm now concerned because I was in such need of the job that they have my SSN. And now I'm seeing that I wasn't just rusty or paranoid, this is actually a scam. I haven't seen fraudulent activity yet, but I'm very concerned it will come up, and I don't know how to ensure my accounts and such are secure.
