This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
The scammer left me a voicemail that implied that I applied for a personal loan. I had previously blocked this contact, but received a second voicemail today and decided to call back. When I called back the person who answered the phone refused to give me the name of the company, but told me in response to my comment that I never applied for a loan, that this was a promotional thing the company does. I repeatedly asked him for the name of the company, and eventually he hung up on me.
