This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
The following transcription of the incident is slightly paraphrased as I blocked and reported the number and it was removed from my messages so I don't have the responses verbatim. I received a text message on the morning of 11/21/2025 asking if I was available to talk. I asked who the sender was. They responded with something similar to the following: "My name is Melissa Grey from LinkedIn. I have details about a role we are hiring for. May I send them?" I replied with, "No thank you, please do not contact me at this number." They replied with, "We are an organization that collects surveys and reports on jobs.... [shortened as I don't remember exact wording]" My final reply to this was, "I do not care, please don't contact me ever again." As mentioned above, this was the point where I blocked the number and reported it as spam through Google Messages. I found this incident interesting because I haven't had LinkedIn for at least a year, having deleted it due to privacy and security concerns.
