This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
This scammer called stating I owed a debt from over 20 years ago via Wells Fargo/Wachovia. He said the bank paid a devt for me that I never repaid and he was a mitigator for an attorney's office filing a Civil Suit in Federal Court. He was demanding up front a portion of the debt or payment plan to pay the debt in full. When asked for a letter verifying thw legitimacy of this company, there is no license number for its existence or name of a contact person. The company is a debt collector. Now I am being harrassed via several numbers from the state of Massachusetts, Michigan, and Kansas.
