This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
I was emailed and texted by a scammer using the name of D. A. Davidson & Co. He/She offered me a job as a work-from-home administrative assistant. After I signed the contract to work with the company, I was sent a link to provide how I wanted the equipment shipped. After providing my name and address, I was asked for $89 to cover the shipment fee of the equipment. I paid it, thinking that I was being too leery. Then I was told that another $100 was due to add to a company's credit card that was being sent to me for office supplies. I had to pay $100 to get $200 more on the card. These are the contacts they used to communicate with me: I received text messages from dadavidsoncareers.usa; I received emails from [email protected]; I was asked to send the $89 to $Patricia-Machel via Chime.
