This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
I was contacted while mowing the law by a tree service. He used a high pressure technique and claimed to be an arborist. He helped me with my tree and claimed he would be able to get to the top of the tree and remove the dead branches at the top. He was unable to do so. When he initially claimed he would be able to do it with a bucket truck. The bucket truck never arrived. He said he would come by the next day and remove finish the job, but demanded cash for a partial payment and more money via credit card when I was unable to provide the cash he asked for. I agreed to pay a large partial sum in anticipation he would come back. He never came later that week. I contacted him the next Monday to see when he would come by, he told me later that week, he would set an appointment. He never called back. I attempted to contact him, and my phone calls went straight to voice mail. I attempted to text, and he never returned my texts. I also tried to contact his brother Chris Smith who never returned my phone calls or texts. I paid for my trees to be worked on, they provided subpar work and did not finish the job, nor did they provide the equipment or demonstrate they had the equipment. He also says he has a basketball camp, I cannot find any evidence of the camp, or the tree service anywhere online.
