I reached out on the website about a Doberman puppy, and wanted more information. Someone reached out via email and told us about the puppy and our options for delivery or pick. They said the total cost with delivery would be $990 and we would need to pay $500 for deposit and the balance to be collected at the time of delivery. We sent over all of out information for the paperwork and they said everything is ready to go and that the puppy is now with the shipping company. They said the shipping company will reach out to us for any other details and we were provided the tracking info. The shipping company reached out asking to pay a "refundable deposit" for an electric crate for the puppy. The amount depending on "class" was $1,000 to $2,000, and they said it would be 95% refundable. I called the shipper and said they need to talk to the breeder about the deposit as I am not paying a $1,000 to someone I didn't hire or know. At this point the shipper starts shaming me and saying that they have all our information and that if something happens to the puppy I will regret and that I will be liable. At that point I knew it was a scam and I hung up. I have been trying to reach the breeder and they have not answered my calls.
