I was offered a job as a project coordinator. Interview was via Teams. Job was offered. On the Monday I was to start, the Hiring Specialist that coordinated the interview was very aggressive about needing to send money via an electronic check to purchase office equipment. At that point I started seeing red flags. At no other job have I been asked or told I would be paid up front for office equipment via an electronic check. So I started digging and this is an apparent scam. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. The Hiring Specialist was named Mike Tobias. He refused to provide ANY details such as even work email or work number and insisted Teams was the only communications channel he could use at that time until I had all my office equipment and laptop, etc. Again RED FLAG.
