Description

I have already filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. On November 13, 2025, my Canon printer quit working in the middle of printing. So I grabbed the booklet that came with the new printer and contacted Canon at; http://Canon.com/ijsetup. Received instructions online to give out my phone number so a tech can help me work out my issues with his about the printer. A man with a very deep Indian accent talked to me on the phone. He needed to ''share'' my laptop so he could find out what was wrong. So I obliged him. With information he and a tech with into my laptop, printer and wifi thru online. The tech repaired my printer and worked great. The the original man told me the reason the printer didn't was because it had corrupted drivers due to a Zombie virus in my laptop. He said to clean that out, he can offer me a special security for 5 years of $1799. Or 3 years for $799. I told him I didn't have that much money. So he said since I was a gentleman, he would give me 6 months for $299. I really didn't want to give up that much money. But, I was backed into a corner. So I agreed. He downloaded a form with a blank check on it. I had to fill in my bank router and account numbers into it. And the amount. I did. He kept telling me about 6 times, ''make sure when the bank calls me for authorization, I say yes.'' That gave me a red flag. He asked me if I had anymore questions to ask. I said yes. I asked him when will the security begin? He got a little bit upset and stammered. That brought up another red flag. We said goodbye and hung up. I got up after taking a break from that, I asked myself, ''Did I just get scammed?'' The next day on November 14, 2025, I contacted my bank and told them what happened. I asked them is there a way they could block that e-check from going thru? They said no. Then I thought, what is the use of having a bank? I decided to power wash my Chromebook OS. Just in case this scammer didn't do his job. Chromebooks don't use McAfee or Norton security. Chromebooks have their own security. Since I started with power wash and until today, I have finally reset my laptop. With no issues. I contacted Canon and found out, they have a Security paper for anyone to be aware of scams impersonating them. The Canon website that I was fooled by is: http://Canon. com/ijsetup. The correct website is: USA.canon.com/support. Today I filed a complaint with the FTC at: [email protected]. This man with Indian accent, is a Mr. Morris, account manager. I have tried calling him several times yesterday and today. No answer or a fax signal came on. Figures. I tried calling the phone number he gave me for: Candler Support LLC. Toll free at; 1- 866-558-1664. Mr. Morris' number is in Mesa Arizona. Doesn't mean he was in the US. Canon says in their letter, ''the most they would have charged would be the max of $20.'' Too late for that now. I got milked.
