Green Security is a credentialing system that is a third-party company that is hired by an hospital to allow Medical Device reps access to hospitals. The medical device reps pay $400-700/year in annual fees to these credentialing systems in order to gain access to the hospitals. One of the main tasks of green security is to process certain documents like flu shots, and then approve the document to “greenlight” the individual so that they can now have access to the hospital. In the past and with other credentialing systems, this approval process usually takes 24 hours at most and if you call customer service, all credentialing companies will approve it on the spot so that you can get access to the hospital to cover procedures (this is our job and how we make money. Green security in the past year has taken it upon themselves to increase their revenue by simply not approving these documents in a reasonable amount of time and making it literally impossible to get a hold of Customer Service on the phone and therefore Green security now offers payment options to expedite the service ($60 day pass and $150 weekly pass). Remember the annual fee that is paid includes the simple process of looking at documents and approving them which literally takes seconds. Green Security is taking advantage of this to try and create a fake marketplace for medical device reps desperate to get access to hospitals in order to earn a living by holding approval processes hostage.
