This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
I applied for a Junior Manual Tester position through a job site. A few days later, I received an email from Trail Delivery Inc, which was not the company I had applied to. Upon investigation, the original company was fake as well. The email was well crafted and appeared appropriate for the job offer and wanted my phone number to schedule an interview. Inconsistencies prompted me to conduct further investigating. The domain for their website was registered only 2 weeks prior to this email. The state's business registration shows the business was registered just over a year ago with a business type of "Any lawful purpose". The address it's registered to is also registered as the address for over 34,000 other businesses, including thousands within the past year. The website is all filler content, stock photos, and AI generated content. The name of the "CEO", when searched for in their registered location points to obituaries, not a living CEO. The image for their CEO is either AI generated or excessively edited and composited. I replied to the offer email asking if the interview could be conducted as a video call and for a little more information about the role. I have yet to receive a reply.
