Jackson Boles owner of BOLES OUTDOOR SERVICES is supposed to be a profession concrete mason. First contact was at the beginning of 2025, Jan. 30th. I purchased a steel structure/metal garage from a company and he was the "sub contractor" that performed all of the monolithic pads or mason work for the building foundation. We spoke sent an estimate for what i wanted and needed and "pre paid" via paypal for initial materials and concrete deposit. Jackson Boles wanted it to be paid via "PayPal friends and family" did not do that as I did not think that was very professional so it went thru goods and service on the off chance of any issues as the amount was $8600 for an initial deposit for materials basically half the job cost for the monolithic slab. Got me in his schedule after i had all permits and paperwork to begin work which was end of April 28th-29th. Jackson Boles showed up set the framing and forms and everything for inspection as per engineered plans provided for the county and per structure requirements. We spoke on the 28th before the inspection and he quoted a new driveway and apron and stamped walkway all in the same time frame of the building. Gave another deposit of 12.5k via check after the details were set and price was set. Inspector came out and passed the initial forms and etc. for the monolithic slab. Then went down hill from there i had a tree removed for the driveway and walkway extension was removed within the second week of May. 2025. Jackson Boles then said he would reach out to me when he could get me back on the schedule to come complete the work. Did not hear anything from him for 3 weeks, i reached out to him and he apologized thinking he had already told me a date which he did not. He stated mid June. then reached out a few days later stating it be June 23rd. I was then called on the 18th of June was told "concrete companys" in my area were booked up for the week of my pour and he asked me if i had known any other companys that would sell concrete. Another week goes by and he messages me asking if we were stamping the concrete walkway as he "could not remember" when we had already chose a design etc all in person when we had initially added this work back in April. He then asked me the dimensions and basically the entire plan again as he did not remember anything or lost the paperwork. Once we figured that all out again we added dye to the driveway and walkway also added some extra rebar for the monolithic slab which was only an additional $1300 he did not ask for any more money at this point. Moving into July of 2025. He then asked me for more money for the extra items that were added. I explained that i had given 21.1k for basically a deposit on basically a 34.9k job which was well more than half of the job and he is asking for more money at this point. When you are already invested more than half the entire project and then he ask for more money something was starting to be off. He did not like texting or emailing as a means of communication. I was being told all July between weather and "could not get on the concrete company schedule" basically all of July was a waste of a month. I called the concrete company that he was trying to use to ask about time slots i was then informed they had plenty of time slots. Called Jackson Boles and explained that and he said he would call and then asked if they had anything at an earlier time frame for him to pour in the AM as I the customer doing his Job that he was hired and paid to do. He kept making excuses said he would be able to it next week and then next week. So new time frame was first week of August when he could come out and do the job. He made more excuses come the first week of August and then showed late in the afternoon to begin working on the driveway. Now while all this is continued the frame work for the structure had sat from the April time frame all the way until August and the wood was warped, falling in, where he had excavated dirt for footers was all full of mud and water and grass as it became a small swamp from then entire summer of waiting and making excuses. Jackson Boles showed up August 7th and he was by himself no crew no help only him and he was trying to re-frame the entire 30x60 area and re-grade everything that was messed up from the neglect of a job half started. He then proceeded to tell me he would order Gravel in order to raise the area of where the Pad was going as it sitting for so long made the dirt extremely soft and not a good foundation. He made a phone call placed an order of Gravel and then proceeded to load his equipment as he stated and told me he was "having trouble" with his machine and needed service. He left my yard a complete mess framing not done no footers dug as per plans driveway completely trashed and ruined. He stated he would return next week to finish what he started and spread the gravel and set forms and pour concrete. That was a lie. I called the company he was suppose to get "Gravel" they had no orders placed under his name the company name or my addresses name. He ordered the gravel then when he left on August 7th as soon as he left he CANCELED the order of Gravel. He then lied stating he would be out on the next week to perform work and get gravel delivered. He finally returned to work after excessive back and forth on when he was coming back tried to get a refund but was informed he spent all the money that was paid to him initially. After realizing i was out little over 23k. I stated that he needed to return to my place and finish what he started. Jackson Boles returned to set framing and dig footers he only dug 3 out of the 4 footers stating he would do the last one after the truck poured the concrete. I had to go to the concrete supplier and pay for the materials that were already paid for because he blew the money on who knows what for the 30x60 slab. ONCE done he came out and poured the concrete on a day it was suppose to rain in the evening he scheduled a 10am trucks on the week of the 19th of August stating he was coming rain or shine to get the work done and he stated the work would be done before it even rains. He poured the concrete and got towards where the last footer neede to be i then realized i was lied to about him digging the front footer to ensure the pad matched engineered plans and what the county required. The pad was not done before it rained he had no tarps or any type of material to cover the pad and it was then ruined. Asked for insurance information to begin a claim he lied and never started one and tried to give other solutions for the damage and neglect that he caused. He then did not respond for another few weeks to try and return and do the walkway and driveway work as that was already basically paid for at this point I was trying to collect on a service that was already been paid for basically. After a lot of back and forth came out beginning of September of 2025. to do the driveway and walk way he did the work it came out like complete and absolute trash edges were all terrible dips and waves all in it excessive cracks and pits, high spots, low spots. This person literally wasted TIME. LIED. STOLE MONEY FOR A SERVICE OF WORK. This is no where near the entire and full story but to summarize the rest Boles Outdoor Service and Jackson Boles are extremely unprofessional Not a licensed contractor in either state of North Carolina OR Virginia and are just taking peoples hard earned money for very poor quality of work and not even done correctly to code.
