I answered an ad on social media that offered an opportunity to earn extra money by placing a 15x10inch ad on the doors of my car. I was initially only requesting information but i received an email later that day (October 28 2025) saying welcome to the drive and earn program. The email i received said that i would be receiving a check that i was supposed to deposit into my bank account. Then after said check cleared i was supposed to somehow send the money from my account to an installer who would then put the ads on my car and use the remaining money to pay me weekly for 12 weeks. That is what sent up red flags to me. The check amount was not equal to 350.00 a week for 12 weeks and nothing about it made any sense. So i called Zoas parent company (****** *****) and the lady i talked to said that it was a scam, that they didn't have any programs like that. So i placed a call to the BBB and was told to file a report online and with my police department. I turned in the original copy of the letter and the 2 checks i received to the local sheriffs department today (November 3 2025). I have blocked the phone number and the email that the scammers were contacting me on as i was instructed to do by the police. I also tried to file a report with the Federal Trade Commission but since the government shutdown is in full swing right now i wasn't able to do so at this time. I will be filing a report with the FTC as soon as they open back up, regardless of how long the shutdown lasts.
