This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.
I used the website epassport.us to renew my passport, believing it was a legitimate passport service. The site did not claim to be a government agency but appeared professional and trustworthy. I paid $85.83 for what was described as “passport processing assistance” and entered my personal information, including my Social Security number. I immediately realized my mistake and froze my credit but should have also cancelled my card. About two weeks later, my bank alerted me to an attempted $6,903.31 transfer to Coinbase that I did not authorize. This website is misusing customer data or facilitating fraudulent activity.
