I was sent a email for an interview with a manager from NY Management Corp for an office building cleaners position. At the interview, the person who reached out to me wasnt at the interview (even though the phone number was the same) and upon committing to the training I was told the people who were interviewing me were with a company called PrePrep. The whole set up was that I would be offered the job, make $25/hr (benefits at 3 months, union at 6, 1 week of vacay that increases each year), that upon agreeing to and paying for the training (which included hazmat and fire safety certification that I was told we would keep forever) the interviewers would be legally bound to find us a position so we could recoup the cost of training/cert. They gave me the sheet i signed and a reciept that they said i should be able to use to deduct the cost of the training/cert on my taxes next year. From what it sounded like they had someone using their services to fill positions on cleaning crews in a good amount of office buildings in manhattan. They said they were looking for long term workers as well and were even interviewing for security/front desk positions. I was skeptical for a lot of it both because the fee (which had to be paid in full to be able to access the training program) was very hefty and because they were interviewing on a mostly empty floor in a building on 767 Lexington Ave 6 floor suit 603. But also, there seemed to be enough nuance and detail to the whole thing and what they were looking for i was told the test for the certification would take place at 9 MetroTech Center Brooklyn NY. I have multiple people’s phone numbers (allegedly) and am waiting to see if the email with the access to the trainings comes thru, but i cant find much on either NY Management Corp or Preprep anywhere online and the site they had me register through (preprep.net) looks shady also. I emailed a man by the name of Vazquez to tell him i completed and passed the fire exam and I’m ready for the job placement. He started sending me jobs links not related to the job that i was offered. And besides that he was getting this jobs offers off of other jobs websites. Some last side notes, the person who interviewed me was named Rosario (a last name i saw mentioned in another job scam post so it made me nervous), the person who texted me first went by the name Ms. Kate, and I was told of a Mr. Vasquez who would be the one placing people in the positions in the buildings following getting certification.
